Figawi Race Weekend kicks off the the Cape Cod and Nantucket summer season. Entries include over 200 sailboats ranging from families promoting the sport of sailing to competitive sailors alike, bringing three thousand sailors & visitors hailing from all over the country including the Carribean, as well as locals.
The first boat officially begins at 10 am off the Hyannis Port Jetty. But beginning around 8 am, the parade of sailboats head out of Lewis Bay, pass by Kalmus Beach, and gather off Hyannis Port. The boats start from 10 am until approximately noon. Around 200 plus sailboats in 13 divisions compete across Nantucket Sound, in various courses, to be the first one to reach Nantucket.
Thousands of world-famous rhododendrons in over 100 varieties and an explosion of color cover 100 acres with spectacular blooms. Enjoy a peaceful walk surrounded by walls of flowers, learn more about Heritage’s storied rhododendron legacy, participate in activities with horticulture experts, and take one of these signature plants home with you from the special plant sale. All Rhododendron Festival programs are free with museum admission. No advance registration required.
The Hyannis Chamber of Commerce Father’s Day Car Show is has approximately 350 classic and nostalgic cars from New England and New York lining both sides of historic mile-long Main Street. With growing attendance every year, this year’s 22nd Annual Father’s Day Car Show is expected to draw more than 60,000 attendees, making this show one of the best-attended family auto events in New England! Join in the fun at the craft show on Hyannis Village Green (Saturday and Sunday) plus family and children’s entertainment including magicians, balloons, cartoon artists, stilt walkers and a kids’ arts and crafts table. Admission is free.
A Cape Cod tradition continues with WCOD cooking up its annual “Chowder Fest” at the Melody Tent. It’s the recipe for a perfect day of sipping and slurping samples of chowder from many of the Cape’s best restaurants, all competing for the coveted “WCOD Chowder Bowl.”
Bring the family and spend the afternoon savoring the “souper” seaside flavor of quintessential Cape Cod, while being serenaded by some of the best bands on the Cape. Don’t miss your chance to get “bowled” over by the Cape’s choicest chowders!

On an island that has captured the imagination of Melville, Benchley, Philbrick and countless others, the Nantucket Book Festival continues that great literary tradition by bringing today’s best and brightest authors to Nantucket for a weekend in celebration of the written and spoken word. The festival features many free talks, readings, and presentations throughout the long weekend, with trademark ticketed events that include Authors in Bars and the annual Cisco Brewers’ Pig Roast.
The Nantucket Yoga Festival is a community orientated celebration that brings together the very best world class yoga instructors, wellness experts and healthy living guides in a celebration of the spirit of the island. By coming together to explore ways to find a happier, healthier more peaceful way of living we can begin to affect positive change in our community and ultimately in the world around us.
Join more than 300 participants and instructors for a retreat that’s welcoming to all experience levels, from beginner to veteran yogi. The festival offers classes on a range of topics, from vinyasa to “Joyful Backbends” to morning meditation classes on the beach.
For over 168 years, the Fair has been a highlight of summer on Cape Cod. The Fair’s attractions include animal shows, monster trucks, carnival rides, demolition derby, petting zoos, horticulture displays, games, live music, arts & crafts, and lots of food and vendors. The Cape Cod Children’s Museum and the Cape Cod Maritime Museum have partnered to bring the 3rd Annual “Pillage the Village,” a Family-Friendly Pirate Event, to Downtown Hyannis! Pirate entertainment, crafts, activities, pirate costume parade, photo booth and more! Tickets are only $5 per person and include admission to the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, plus Goody Bags for the kids (while supplies last)!
